(Q1.) How can we send
image files to ICL?
(A.) We accept attached files via E-mail
However, this isn't practical for a large number of files as mail
servers limit the size of E-mail messages. When sending a large number of
files and for increased
speed and reliability, we recommend that you FTP your files to our anonymous FTP site.
(FTP is an acronym for File Transfer Protocol, an efficient
method of sending files over the Internet.) Of course, you can always send them
by mail, UPS, FedEx, or courier on appropriate media.
(Q2.) Can I FTP
files directly with my browser?
(A.) Yes, but this method is
currently only supported by Microsoft's Internet Explorer. Simply click
here and then drag a folder of your files into the FTP
window on that page (IE6 Only). In IE7 view this FTP site in
Windows Explorer by clicking Page in the Toolbar and then
clicking Open FTP Site in Windows
Explorer. You will now be able
to drag and drop your folder into the Windows Explorer window.
Make sure that the folder is named in a way that
identifies you. Then (and this is important), fill out the
Digital Print Order Form or
E-mail
appropriate instructions.. Do not resend files as an attachment.
(Q3.) What if I am
using a browser that does not support uploading by anonymous FTP?
(A.) E-mail them as attachments
a small number of pictures at a time. A safe amount will vary with your
e-mail provider.
Please include appropriate instructions. For another option, see
Stand Alone FTP below.
(Q4.) How large
can my files be?
(A.) Generally, we accept file uploads no larger than
five
megabytes per image. If possible, they should be JPEG images saved at a high
quality setting
The resolution of these files must be high enough to produce
acceptably sharp prints. This is especially important for sizes above
4x6".
(Q5.) What formats
are supported by ICL?
(A.) Our equipment
requires industry standard JPEG or TIFF files. Inquire about other formats.
(Q6.)
I am
comfortable using
stand-alone FTP software. How do I configure it for ICL's FTP site?
(A.) Configure according to the
following:
site
label: Industrial Color Labs
host address: ftp://ftp.mrphoto.com
username: anonymous
password: Use your e-mail address
initial remote directory: incoming
initial local directory: the directory or file folder
where the file you want to send resides.
type of transfer: binary
(Q7.) Is there
anything else that I need to do?
(A.) Yes. You
must notify us by phone at (315)449-1155 when you send us
files.
